 2017 Meeting Notes

 

 

February 20, 2017 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. There were 13 members present.

TREASURER REPORT:

Ron Leonard  gave the treasurers report.  Ron is also getting change of address for all banks.

SECRETARY REPORT:

Christy Smith gave the secretary’s report.

CORRESPONDENCE:

NWF is having a website contest. We elected not to join in.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Mike and Ron will go to the Rock Chucks meeting to see if they need anything and make sure they want the black light booth. We will bring rocks from our club for the silent auction, which could generate some income. Malinda Shafman made a motion that  we will donate a 5 gallon bucket of rocks for the 50/50 split. Patricia Nelson seconded the motion.

NEW BUSINESS:

Melinda Shafman will talk to Sherri Stevens regarding our meeting room.  Christy Smith will contact Dan Revell to see about doing a field trip to Helena area to visit his gold claim.

April 17, 2017Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. There were 9 members present.

Treasurers report

Ron Leonard gave the treasurer's report.

Secretary Report

There was no minutes taken at the March 2017 meeting to report.

Correspondence:

There was a letter from the NW Federation regarding the yearly meeting to be held in Hamilton, MT.

Unfinished Business

The Gem Show went well and there was good attendance.

Christy Smith contacted Dan Revell regarding an outing to his gold claim. Ron Nelson will contact him in May regarding a date for this outing.

New Business

John Babcock willc heck on dates for our annual summer picnic.

Mike Milliren gave out dates for the Helena, Missoula and Kalispell Rock Chucks summer outings. 

Here are the outtings that the Kalispell Rock Chucks are planning, and we are invited to any of these outings:

6-10-17 St. Mary's Idaho at Emerald Creek.

6-24-17 Redcliff, MT for calcite

7-8-17 Crystal Park for quartz, Calvert Hill for Epidote and aquamarine

7-22-17 Alder Gulch, Ruby Reservoir for garnets

8-26-17 Elderado Bar for sapphires

9-16-17 Yellowstone River for Agates

Meeting was adjourned at 7:42.

Next meeting is scheduled for May15, 2017.

 

May 15, 2017

Meeting was called to order at 7:07 with 15 members present.

Treasurers report:

Ron Leonard gave the treasurer's report.

SECRETARY REPORT:

Christy Smith gave the secretary report.

Unfinished Business:

Picnic is August 13 at the Creston Fish Hatchery starting at 12:00 with grill starting at 12:30. Members will bring side dishes and the club will provide burgers and brats.

New Business:

Georgia bought gems for the club. Including topaz, Amethyst, Citrine,etc. Thank you so much Georgia.

Earl Colton passed away. We will miss him tremendously.

John Babcock bought butterflynets and magnify glasses with our donation last year for the Outdoor Education Center.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:38.

 

July 19, 2017

Meeting was called to order at 7:17 p.m. with 8 members present.

Treasurers report:

Ron Leonard gave the treasurer's report.

Secretary Report:

There were no minutes read,as our secretary was out of town at the last meeting.

Old Business:

Ron Nelson will contact Dan Revell regarding our outing to his gold mine.

Picnic reminder that it will be August 13 at noon. 

New Business:

Ron Leonard has grit except for polish for tumbler.

Mike is going to borrow the club tumbler.

What to do with the rock saw was discussed. Should we contact the 
Rock Chucks, fix it up, or sell it?
